About Des:

When new talent in the realm of stand up comedy begin to break through the international scene out of the UK - names like Jimmy Carr, Ricky Gervais, Billy Connolly, Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry loom large.

Respectfully, the United Kingdom is mighty big . . . . . So where exactly does that leave Ireland?

-Do they provide more than just folk music and river dancing?

-Is the myth true that all Irish are privy to finding pleasure from the bottom of a pint glass?

Well since the 2000’s . . . . world watch out!!!!!!!!!!

Brendon O’ Carroll broke through the mold with his portrayal of a hard-drinking, foul-mouthed matriarch in drag in Mrs Brown’s Boys, which has enjoyed success on live stage and an eponymous television franchise.

Now cue another bright spark . . . . And he doesn’t need a feckin brew.

In 2004, the name Des Bishop become known through his docu-comedy program The Des Bishop Work Experience after years of honing his skills as an observational comic.

Since that time, Mr. Bishop has kept busy as a popular stand up, headlining many festivals and tours, including Just For Laughs in Canada and the Melbourne Comedy Festival.

He has successfully produced and hosted many companion television shows and has even competed on Dancing With The Stars.

His comedy is raw and no-holds barred, even including themes of poverty, his own experience fighting cancer and many other socio-economic issues.

If misery loves comedy, Des Bishop encompasses that both make perfect bed fellows . . . . And he makes us pee ourselves, while doing it.

Des Bishop graces D.I.S Live this coming Tuesday, 5pm Est.

Only on Fireside Chat.
