DEPRESSION| DOMESTIC VIOLENCE |SOBRIETY| RELAPSE | ALCOHOLISM| DRUG ADDICTION| MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS | ANXIETY | SUICIDE

It's no surprise to me after reading some world wide statistics on alcohol and drug related topics - the amount of people - even just in my community alone who are struggling with substance abuse.

Everyone's all about this massive 'ice epidemic ' & totally ignoring the biggest problem in Australia , alongside many other countries.

 ALCOHOL.

37.3% Australians aged only 14 yrs and older consume alcohol on a DAILY basis. [2]

Alcohol kills 15 Australians every day - 5,554 each year. It also hospitalizes 430 Australians every year; that's 157, 132 innocent people each year. [3]

I am certainly not dismissing the illicit drug abuse; I know too well the pain from that world. & that too is a heart wrenching problem hitting our nation's faster & faster as the years click over.

An approximate 27 MILLION PEOPLE WORLDWIDE are problem drug users. Almost half of them (12.9 million) of those users inject.[1]

Alcohol is the most widely used drug in Australia.

Why?Because it's legal of course!

Phenomenal.

Like, seriously - you don't even want to know!

I, myself have witnessed first hand the consequences of not only the drug use on a personal level but I have witnessed the alcoholism getting progressively worse. Especially in the past 10 years.

Everyone has heard this before; to me this just seems like an old broken record. We need to come together as a whole and have compassion for those struggling with whatever addiction or mental illness it may be. Knowing about it is just not enough anymore, lets group together as one and form a boat of compassion and help others sail out of whatever cave they are currently in.
